In order to achieve a steady dependable supply, we have to first address the main problem of Transition periods. Supply interruptions generally occur because of adverse weather events. The effects of these events manifest themselves at the end of an old growing region and or at the beginning of the new growing region. Heat (Disease) events hasten the end of the old regions while cold, rainy events (in the new regions) push them back thus creating a GAP. These gaps on average happen much more frequently and with more intensity during these periods of transition.

This is why we have initiated a special program with selected growers in order to take a more proactive approach to this problem. Because of the disease tolerance and hardiness of the preferred varieties that we have our Growers use, we are able to have supplies during these times by extending the growing season in both Georgia and NC. These are special programs with selected growers with certain guarantees in order to protect our Growers from any subsequent lost revenue from other crops that we are taking the place of, that are normally grown during these times, thus make it easier for them to manage the risk......
